Prelude to the Boston Massacre

April 6, 2005
Hiller Zobel writer

Hiller Zobel, author of Prelude to the Boston Massacre: The Trial of Ebenezer Richardson and Christopher Seider and widely considered the definitive expert on the Boston Massacre and trial, explores the death of Christopher Seider, who was hailed as a martyr to the Patriot cause, and the trial of Ebenezer Richardson.

In early 1770, tensions in Boston were running high. On February 22, an 11-year-old boy, Christopher Seider, was shot and killed during a riot. Several months later a Boston loyalist, Ebenezer Richardson, was tried for the crime.
